Tom Pierce is the owner of Pierce Fire Investigations based in California and the Pierce Fire Consulting Group based in Montana. He is a full time Fire Investigator based in Miles City, Montana. He has been involved in fire service and law enforcement since 1974. He has over 700 hours of training specific to fire origin and cause investigation including classes from the National Fire Academy, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, California State Fire Marshal's Office, California Conference of Arson Investigators and the International Association of Arson Investigators.

Investigator Pierce is a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) through the International Association of Arson Investigators, California State Fire Marshals office and the California Conference of Arson Investigators. Mr. Pierce has conducted over 2,500 fire investigations in his career and is qualified to testify in California State court in origin and cause cases.

Mr. Pierce is a Montana Licensed Private Investigator # 38184 and is fully insured and bonded. He serves the fire investigation community as a member of the Board of Directors for the Montana chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (MTIAAI) as well as a fire investigator and fire scene safety officer for the Miles City Montana Fire Department.

Mr. Pierce also owned and operated a chimney sweep and solid fuel contracting business for 18 years. He has conducted level 1 and 2 inspections on over 10,000 chimneys in his career. He was the first Certified Fire Investigator in the state of California to be a F.I.R.E. Certified Fireplace Inspector and Fireplace Technician. He is also an assistant author to the F.I.R.E. training program.

Mr. Pierce has served the chimney/venting industry as a member of the Board of Directors for the International Association of Fireplace and Chimney Inspectors (IAFCI). He presently serves on the Technical Committee on Chimneys, Fireplaces and Venting Systems for Heat Producing Appliances for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 211).

Mr. Pierce has served as an instructor in the field of commercial kitchen fire investigation. He is also well versed in the field of commercial pyrotechnics and has just celebrated his 45th year in the industry.
